Hi everyone,

I am really not that good with networks and am hoping someone can kindly help me with what i am trying to accomplish

I want to access my home computer from abroad, as if I was sitting in front of it. Can someone kindly give suggestions on how to best do this securely and without paying for a software such as PC Anywhere etc?

My set up is below.

-Dynamic IP Internet

Many thanks in Advance

Thanks for the quick reply Zarf.

You said they both work without any port forwarding etc? This is wicked if that is the case. I will try this later on and see if it works.

Thanks again.

If you're taking a smartphone/computer with you, my preference is for Teamviewer, it's free for personal use and you can set it up to run as a service.

Alternately there's LogMeIn, same deal in that it can be ran as a service, but it has a nifty web based viewer, so you can use it from net cafes.

Those are both free and work well without any router port forwarding required or dns setup/remembering ip addresses. If those aren't a problem VNC is what you want.

Thanks Ciaron454 for the additional info.

But it just fascinate me how can this program find its way to your computer without any port forwarding etc..

I will definitely try this later on.

Does anyone knows how long the trial period for this program is?

Thanks again.

I'd also recommend Teamviewer, setup for it is easy and it operates via passcodes that are randomly generated making your computer relatively safe. Although you may need to set a static pass if no one is at home to send you the pass.

Additionally, port fording shouldn't be needed but it might be if the ports it uses are closed.
