We have a Virgin router providing wifi and cabled access. To extend this to a number of rooms I installed a number of TP adapters (sending it through the walls) . In one of the other rooms we can detect the wifi signal but are unable to connect. I have tried all the passwords including pin which are written on the router and am still unable to connect (despite a strong signal being identified).

Powerline. The one I'm having issues with connecting with is fine with a cabled connection but not with wifi. It also has an antenna on the top of it and the entire unit fits in to a wall socket. The main signal/feed/router signal is coming down through a corridor some 20 feet away and into another room where this adapter is with the antenna on it which is plugged directly in to the wall. As I say, the cabled pc is fine with it. The signal from the adapter is strong. Just can't connect to its wifi.

If you have a Powerline adapter that also acts as a Wi-Fi access point then that'll also need configuring. They aren't going to transmit the SSID or accept the wireless password of the existing wireless network unless you configure
I think this is what has happened. Some numpty just plugged them in to the wall sockets and cabled the wifi access point to a pc thinking the wifi would work straight out of the box. Unfortunately the same person has thrown the box away with the instructions. I have looked at the Powerline adapter and there is nothing on them apart from a serial number.
