Hi, I need to find a few things and i wonder if anyone here can help me. Ima teacher at a secondary school, and have just been charged with co-teaching the BTEC Photography course we are starting in 3 days time (i found out this morning).

I need to find some pictures of the same image but at different zoom ranges, like 10mm, 15mm, 20mm - 400mm etc. Does anyone know where i can find them?

Secondly does anyone know of a free image editing software that will let you play with levels and adjust them? I know CS3 will, and we have 2 copies of that, but i could do with something free or very low cost that i/we can recommend to the pupils to use at home.

Many thanks - and I know i will end up asking for more help from you on this.

If you want, i can do you some shots of between 10 and 55 (i only have a 10-20 and a 18-55 lens). Anything in particular you would like the shots of, would a pier be ok?

As for apps, what about GIMP for windows?

http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/

Assuming its ok to ask students to go home and search for gimps!

lol, yeah just found GIMP - but you cant alter levels in it - seems adobe is the only one i know where you can do that easily.

thanks for the offer - can get pictures myself but i know i have seen some on a web site somewhere, just cant think for the life of me where. And cant seem to find *** right vocab to use google to search for it.

Thank you very much for the offer though

I think Paint.NET allows you to alter the levels. Not sure whether it has as many options as Photoshop, although you can get plugins for it.

The GIMP does let you alter the levels.

I believe the Canon website has an interactive map showing the effects of different focal lengths
