Help advise or thoughts

Hi guys

I have a problem with video cards.

all of a sudden the pc lost the display. i turned pc off including main switch and sometimes it came on sometimes not, then it went to never turning screen on.
i switch cards and all is fine for a while then the same happens again to other card.
i switch back to 1st card and all is ok again for a while.

rinse and repeat.

both are ati cards 1x 5970 1x 5870
mother board = asus extreme 2
6 gb ocz ram
i7 730 cpu
psu enermax revolution 85+

all are 1 year old

what do you think i should poke at 1st i was thinking maybe psu .
but its never happened to me before so im at a loss where to start.

unless i strip it all down clean it all and rebuild.

(i have tried changing over power rails going to the card aswell)

When you turn it back on do the fans spin up but the screen goes black, or does nothing happen?

The former, I'd suspect your primary GPU, the latter I'd suspect your PSU.

fans spin but just black screen.

ill try a test on psu see if voltages drop at any point.

ill i keep poking but seems stable atm ive loaded new drivers maybe as simple as that . fingers crossed ( as its doing to to both my cards )
