I had a previous topic and it turned out the motherboard was faulty.

So I got my new replacement and put it all together, the motherboard kept going in a reboot cycle.

Looking at some forums and It looked like the ram voltage, so I ordered some new 1.8v ram from here.

The new ram came and I thought all was good, It went into the bios but then it just froze up. I haven't managed to get into it since, even with chmos reset's etc.

Another faulty motherboard?

I've tried all my ram sticks, total of 6 and none of them work, my PSU has been used while I was waiting for my replacement mobo and it worked fine, graphics card has been tested. Only other thing I think it could be is cpu.

If it's faulty can you recommend another x38 board.

Thanks

Are you providing the Motherboard with the correct power requirements. You need to connect both the 24 and 4 pin ATX connectors. If you have, then check that the PSU is actually working. You might need to test the PSU using a multimeter if you can't get into the BIOS.

Thanks for the reply,

I have everything connected and like I said the PSU has been working fine on my other pc while I was waiting for the new motherboard to come.

What's weird is that now I can get into the bios almost every time, while in the bios I can go into the different sections etc, but after a minute or 2 the bios just freezes, I monitored the cpu temperature and it's good, I can't work out what it is.

Thanks a lot

Jon

What BIOS are you using?

What PSU is powering your system, and what hardware is running off it?

Try running it with one stick of ram in the first slot and see what happens.

What ram are you using?

It is unlikely that you have got 2 duff motherboards one after another. :)

I have 2 set's of ram,

GeIL 2GB PC2-6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2

and just incase it was voltages I bought some 1.8v ram

GeIL 1GB PC2-5300C4 667MHz Value DDR2

My specs are

Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600
OCZ ModXStream 780w
HIS ATI Radeon HD 3870 XT

I'm running the bios that came with the board.

Thanks for the reply

Do you think it could be a problem with the bios?

Sorry to bump after a day, just really need to try sort this out so I can fix or return. Is it worth trying to flash the bios to the latest version.

Also it looks like overclockers don't even stock it anymore, too many problems?

Thanks

Sorry I didn't get back to you!

Try running just 1 pair of ram sticks (ie. the GeIL 2GB PC2-6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2), for a time, set the voltage for it to 2.1v, set the timings manually to 4-4-4-12.

Did you try running just 1 stick of ram in the 1st slot for a time?

What BIOS are you using (although I doubt it would be BIOS related), BIOS F4 was giving a lot of problems, if you are using this BIOS try flashing to F7? :)
