Currently i have a wireless network in my house which is working perfectly fine on an Netgear DG834GT on DGTeams custom firmware. The house is also wired with cat5 with a switch at the top of the house. However i want to put a wireless access point into my business across the street so i can access some systems there from my house. The problem is between my house and work are thick trees, a line of sight can easily be achieved from the top floor of my house and a signal from there would reach work easily. However the DG834GT can not be moved to the top of the house as it is next to the phone line. As such im thinking a repeater would be needed at the top of the house to rebroadcast the house signal across the road to work. Am i correct in this?
I have a couple of old Netgear WGR614s here that i was planning to use for this but have found out they can be used as WAPs but not repeaters. Would another DG834 series router set up as a repeater with WDS do the job for linking to a WGR614 in work as an Access Point?
