Help - all photo image files are 'broken'

Hi guys,

Just been repairing an old PC for a friend, has 2 hard drives, 1 for Windows and Programs and a 2nd for docs.

The C drive needed replacing, which is all complete, however, now, all pictures on the D drive do not work. They all come up with a message to say they may be corrupt or damaged! Doesn't matter if they are jpegs or bmps etc.

Any idea what this could be and how they can be recovered?

Sounds strange, if other files on the HD are ok then i can't say without looking at it myself. You could try using data recovery software but that does not always work so well on pictures. Could try installing irfanview and see if that can view them. Sounds like corrupt HD.

Ok, just had another look, 99% of the files are pictures, but I found a word doc and ppt and they won't open either!
