Hi Guys,

Purchased this chip around Dec 05 now if memory serves me correctly, it's an AMD X2 4400.

I purchased an Asus A8N-SLI at the same time, it was only supports a DDR motherboard, I wanted to buy some new memory but thought I may aswell buy DDR2 but hence my motherboard doesn't support it.

Question is will my 64 X2 4400 work in an AM2 motherboard even though I'm currently using a Socket s939 motherboard.

maybe a silly question I know.

No it wont, it also can never use DDR2 memory as its the CPU that determines what memory can be used not the motherboard (with AMD CPU's that is).

Thanks for your help guys,

Good job I ordered that new Intel e6600 + 4GB DDR2 800mhz Ram and new motherboard.

Future proofing my PC, preordered the OEM version of Premium Vista so I thought I may aswell do the upgrade now instead of having to buy a new license a few monts down the line when I upgrade.

I'd remove any mention of selling that kit as its against the forum rules I'm afraid.

Not nagging, just don't want you to get a ban or anything.

Sorry & cheers for the advice I don't usually post as all my questions have usually been answered but have been doing a lot of reading over the last year or two on here, the knowledge provided by the members is indespensible, edited out now
