AMD Catalyst centre is saying the latest beta driver is not installed, this is on the start page then software update, then package, then current version.

also i cant find the card in AMD Catalyst hardware , it's saying intel HD graphics 3000, i cant trace my 7970, i've had a few crashes recently, i cant game either, the pc crashes as soon as i get past the menu screen

in device manager....display adaptors, again its saying intel hd graphics 3000

how do i get it to recognise my GPU, this is very odd............ this is my old rig i5....ASrock mobo

ok it's been recognised, and i have the driver details...14.7, this means it all went missing a few days ago, right i've had enough of the ASrock mobo, i'm going to get a Gigabyte Z77-DS3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155), cheap but strong and reliable

it's deffo mobo related, because rubbish like this keeps happening, plus it's very slow starting up as well, the GPU is fine; as strong as hell.

i also have an automatic ``amd driver downloader`` now this has always said, ``cannot detect display``..........but right now it's saying ``you have the latest driver version for your system``....:eek: so this sudden brand new message tells me that my GPU has been faulty for months

i hope my new rig isn't as bad as this pile of junk

it's still not working but now it's in all games, at the menu stage or just after, the screen is just going black.... i cant do anything after that, i have to manually close down the pc and reboot it............. the internet is fine.

there is a clue, it's also closing down if i move the card up and down slightly, so the fault could be the PCI slot, i'm not convinced its the card, it feels like the mobo....just before it crashed i also heard coil wine

sometimes when it black screens, i can still hear the audio

when i reboot it, it wont start if the card is still wired in, i have to unplug it and switch the HDMI to the Mobo.... it then starts ok, i then shut it down and reconnect the card.

i'm going to buy a new mobo tomorrow, i'm getting very worried about this

yea and now it's working, thanks, which is good news because a new mobo is much cheaper than another 7970, this mobo has had it, because it wont be long before something else goes wrong.

i knew it wasn't the card, because it has always been very stable once gaming and once you have a good card they tend to last forever....
