Hello folks, i'm finally taking the jump from VGA to DVI (about time)

As such I am now boggled.

What DVI cable do I require to get the best use out of the following;

XFX Radeon 7850 2gb core edition

BenQ GW2250HM 21.5" dvi monitor

(I had no idea that there were so many different dvi cables)

Any DVI cable will do. You only need a Dual link one if you're doing resolutions higher than 1080p. Did your monitor come with one?

Nope it came with a VGA cable (the monitor supports VGA, DVI and HDMI)

Is it easier/better/wiser to just use a HDMI cable? I have external speakers anyhow.

If you're using external speakers, no. HDMI and DVI are exactly the same, just HDMI being able to carry sound.

This cable will do, but you can find cheaper ones if you search else where.

I might just go for a HDMI cable as it looks neater.
