Hi! Sorry if in wrong section...

Got my gaming rig being built and should be here in 2 weeks or so.
But I'm really nervous about what to do once it's all plugged in and I hit power button for the first time!

Can people here give almost an idiots guide :p to what the starting process of any new rig should be?
Like updates to do straight away, drivers etc, best virus protection, must have programs/apps

Also what's good to monitor temps of the PC and something to check fps.

Hoping I get get things clearer in my mind and use this thread as a guide so I don't forget or mess something up.

Thanks for anyone taking time to help!

Install the operating system, get all the latest motherboard, graphics drivers from the respective websites as the stuff on disk is usually a bit out of date. Programs/applications will depend on your personal use. But for temp, voltage monitoring etc id reccomend the usual suspects.

Gpu, msi afterburner. Great for monitoring all types of card perameters, fps, temps, memory usage and so on. For cpu temps, coretemp is great and cpuz for cpu and memory info.
