Help and Advice on Repasting a reference edition Rx 5700 xt

Advice please, bought a 2nd user reference edition rx 5700 xt, the original owner said they repasted the card, but based on watching the temps on the core hit 90 degrees as opposed to watching and reading reviews for the reference edition the core should be way closer to 77 to 80 degrees.

Clearly they have done a bad job of repasting the GPU, I do know the ref edition uses Hitachi thermal pad, so if repasting with thermal paste , then four nylon washers are recommended to add to the mounting pressure.

I have watched some good YouTubes for disassembly and using the four washer.

I am going to use Noctua H2 paste.

I was just wondering if anyone else in the thread has repasted their reference edition rx 5700xt?

Currently the card is running fine with a undervolt to bring down the temps in the short term, card works well, other than the current bad thermals.

If u in south uk. Come over. I hit u with beer and do it for u. Friendly Invite.

Hi Thank you for your very kind offer, sadly I am in the Midlands.

I'm confident in doing the task, just concerned that the card originally came with the Hitach thermal pad.

Have you removed the Hitachi pad and replaced with thermal paste on a Reference rx 5700 XT?

Did you use the small washers for a better grip?

Sorry, I never had a 5700. I have done handful 580 's
Had Handful nvidia cards. I'm not sure What kind of worries u having, I find them easy.

I've repasted many graphics cards, but the reference edition rx 5700xt is different, it does not come with paste applied, it uses a thermal pad instead, those that have repasted with thermal paste have had thermal issues as the paste does not make the same contact, compared with the thermal pad.

Sadly it is not the average easy repaste.
