Help and advise needed please

I want to go wireless due to having brought a new laptop the other day. So i have a few questions I need help with please.
1. What wireless router should I buy (anything up tp £60 )
2. Once I set that up how do I set it up so that I can read the files using my laptop (and gaining access to the said file) that are sitting on my proper pc i.e my music which sits on f drive and films sitting on d drive.

So basicaly I want ot set up a network which enable sme to transfer documents and files etc between both machines.

right got a linksys route and it is working really well........I just need to be able to access my music which is on my f drive on my main pc.
My setup is as follows:-
ntl modem into wireless router hard cable link into pc.Wireless to laptop.
I just cant figure out how to do it. I really need some help on this.

just done it using the following guide:-

can access everything i need now , but how secure is this?
I have locked down the router with its security
do I need to do anything else?
