Hi Guys and Gals I'm after advise,
A question I'm sure is asked over and over,so I will try not to get on anyones nerves by asking again but maybee my angle is different

The question is :- What Motherboard and Cpu combo is best for gaming ?
To run power hungry games Crysis, bioshock ect
also it will no doubt bring up the AMD/intel argument

I am swaying towards AMD but I might be persuaded differently,no My angle is in the perameters, its not a case of money no object, but it might be possible to upgrade slowly using bits from my current pc,but the upgrade those bits in time.
I have always been a console man,
My pc was just for surfing and email, I was running an old 1.3ghz amd athelon, and it was really slow and used to hang,I had a few games, and had to buy a graphics card capable of dx9,but still used to hang,so I stuck to consoles, then work was throwing out some IBM pc's,when I checked they had intel P4 @ 2.8Ghz,so I had the board out and some ram and made a semi gaming machine which is what I am on now,I have upgraded the Graphics card again and will run high end games, but they do hang a bit and I do have to have to have graphics options turned down a small amount,
but since I have played Bioshock and GTR2 I have a thurst for PC games, and want something that will run all or most current at full graphics settings

So What motherboard and Cpu do you advise and going on my present pc specs that I will post,is there anything I can use from old pc,ie new cpu and Mobo but use current drives ram or poss graphics card(though its agp it runs Dx10)
I have a PS3 and Xbox360,but there is something about My pc makes me prefer to use
I'l post my current specs in another window as running everest to get info and its quite big

Oh and is there any info you may know about the AMD quad-core processor called Phenom ?,any good ?

Lol nice life story :)

I personally have an AMD Phenom 9950 Black Edition, coupled with an Asus M3A32 MVP Delux motherboard and ive never had any problems in any of those games, although i do hav a 4870x2 :) Im sure there will be a lot of people arguing intels side too however, im just giving you options

Yeah sorry its so long,I'm fairly new to the PC side of gaming, and did'nt know what might have been needed as far as info,I dont sopose there is anything I can use temporary from my old PC except drives, even then are boards all sata now ?

Sounds good, clock speeds seem low, although I know amd cpu's can run a bit slower for same effect, what about the AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ Windsor 3.2GHz,or is it not a gaming unit ?
EDIT: Sorry I did'nt see that yours was Quad,so its not so slow
How would the Dual I have highlighted compare with the quad pound for pound

Oh another question, sorry is there any modern boards that have AGP slots as well as pci's ?,so I can use my graphics card for now ?,I suspect not,but as I am still learning I thought I would check,
Thanks
