Hey! Thanks for reading. So after my final GCSE paper around June 20th my parents will buy me a gaming PC. There's no budget and I've been looking around and over clockers seems great, but if someone could please explain how the process works.

I've fiddled around with the website and say if I ordered a 1,500 PC and I configured it, would they build it and send it to my address? If I configured a PC say if I changed the ram, the hard drive on the website and ordered it would they configure that and build it? Basically I'd just like the process of ordering a PC explained. Will they custom build it and send it off to me?

Thanks for reading and I hope you can answer my questions since I'm really looking forward to buying a new pc. -M

Hi Mohid, welcome to the forum.

If you select a pre-built (changing any available options to your preference/budget) and buy it, they'll build and deliver it.

If you use the configurator, the same.

If you want custom parts not available through pre-built options or configurator options, then you put a spec together (can ask for suggestions here if you want) and then contact Customer Service - PreSales Queries for a build quote (the PC will have the usual 3 year warranty same as the other options).

Thank you so much, this seems like a great way to buy a PC in the UK. I hope in Junes time I'll use this website and thanks for your help!

Yeah I will, reccomend any places to get good HDMI monitors? I've had a couple monitors all dvi or vga and HDMI. Cause on my old PC I've been using vga for some reason it was a 750TI. Anyway I presume an RTX 2070 card has HDMI. So you know any places to get good monitors?

Can I also suggest that when the time comes you also post up your budget. Some very knowledgable folk on here who will happily ‘spec’ you up a system that may well be better balanced than anything the configurator will come up with.

Just a heads up - no competitor mentions are allowed buddy. OCUK stock plenty of monitors but as with anything it often pays to shop around.

Thekwango, my budget for the PC will be 1600 pounds maximum . My monitor can be maximum 200 pounds. As for keyboard and mouse and mic and stuff there isn't really a budget as I'm going shopping in four days because my parents are buying me them, I've just had mock exams

I’d suggest combining the 2 budgets. So 1800 max for pc and monitor. Setting your max monitor budget at £200 means you’ll have a kick ass pc but an average monitor. You’ll have a more balanced system spending a little less on the pc and a little more on the monitor. No point in having a monster pc if the monitor can’t show it off ;)
If you’re not planning on the pc build until June time, repost then with the budget and the OcUK posse will spec you up.
And in case you missed my post about mentioning competitors, edit the name out on post #5.

Tek, Thanks for your help. I understand you but I was just looking at a casual 60hz 1080 p panel hehe. Because I'm kinda a casual gamer. Even if my PC can do 500 frames I always keep it locked to 60 and put vsync on. With this new PC I think I'll just get a 1080p 60hz monitor but we'll see. Because even with RTX I'm kinda casual gamer. Even on games like Rainbow, Battlefield, Batman etc I always use 60fps :p and I think 1080 may be more than good enough for me but I'm not really good in the monitor department

Well if you’re intent on playing on a 1080p 60hz screen there’s absolutely no need to spend 1600 quid on a pc. Unless it’s going to be used for something other than gaming that’s gonna be a lot of hardware grunt going to waste.

I absolutely agree with you, but I'll take this chance and get the best PC possible :ppp . And in the future I'll definitely try to upgrade to 4k or higher, especially I have the Witcher 3 in my steam library, notorious to run but I can't wait to finally play It properly !

Ohh, sorry my bad it's my first time using the forum. I'll remember not to do that again. Personally I think this website is the best anyways ;)
