Hi guys

I'm after some Windex Original which is apparently "Americas No. 1 glass cleaner".

I'm not that particular about my glass cleaner but I need a product that contains ammonia so I can hopefully unclog a blocked print head, this is what I'm wanting to do - go to 3min 20secs:

So does anyone know of anywhere I can order Windex in the UK or a similar product with ammonia in it that will evaporate into the print head and dislodge clogs?

I have found it on Amazon Marketplace but it's from US sellers and I really need to get some tomorrow if possible!

Thanks very much, any help is very much appreciated, and as the guy on the video says, definitely don't recommend any foaming cleaners please! :D

Hi,

Windex is not available in the UK.

The closet you will get is windolene but it's not the same formulation.

Lots of modellers use Windex for the reason you stated, the ammonia. It's good for cleaning airbrushes.

You could try windolene and add a little bit of household ammonia to it.

Thanks very much for the quick replies folks!

This forum never fails to surprise me, the completely off the wall nature of questions and there's always someone with knowledge about it to answer! :D

I didn't know you could pick up ammonia at the chemist, I'll ask them about it tomorrow!

I could try watering it down or adding it to Windolene but I don't know the quantities it would need to be in.

Same with IPA, it's a good idea in theory but I don't know whether it would work or again, in what concentration it would need to be in.

If I knacker it up, it'll be a hell of an expensive repair bill to buy a new print head and get someone to install it.

I imagine any volatile solvent would work similarly, so you could probably try chloroform as well.

Seeing this kind of video just makes me even more glad I ditched ink jet printers though, horrid things.
