Now I know its a Motherboard question but its about drivers for the motherboard, so technically software...

Gigabyte GA-M61PME-S2P motherboard.
Just had a clean install of Windows XP, and it has a yellow question mark in Device Manager next to Unknown Device - Ethernet Controller.
I have installed the LAN Drivers for this motherboard from the Manufacturer's web-site so Network adapters is showing OK, but cannot get it to connect to the internet.

Any help asap would be appreciated because at 2am I dont appreciate getting text messages asking when it will be ready for him to collect!!!

Maybe they didn't install correctly? Try uninstalling the drivers, then run driver cleaner in safe mode, and then restart and reinstall them. Check that the LAN controller settings are correct in the BIOS too.

Does it have a separate network card? Installed chipset drivers? Try with a separate NIC?

I'd tell him it will be ready when it's ready - It takes time to rebuild a machine.
