hi guys

i seem to be havin some probs with my system. and its all down to my boot ini i think. My windows drive is comin up as C in windows xp. In administrative tools it says my storage drive is D and its called system.
when i loaded xp cd and went to repair console. it says my windows installation is D. thats not right. this is my boot ini

[boot loader]
timeout=0
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn

Does anyone know how i would fox this mess? Both my drives are SATA

That just says "boot windows from the first partition of the first disk" which is what it's doing. Why would that be your problem?

As I understand it the boot.ini in the bootsector can't differentiate between partition letters, it just reads them out in order 0, 1, 2, 3 etc

It shows up as drive D: probably because you had a USB drive or card reader attached when you installed Windows Unfortunately I don't know a way to change the drive letter on the active system partition, but if it boots ok then is it a problem?

Edit, I just re-read the OP. Did you make the storage partition before the Windows partition? Do you have two seperate hard drives and admin tools says they are round the other way to what you were expecting?
