Hi everybody, long time no post.

As usual, the world moves far too quickly for me to keep up with all the hardware stuff. I need a new PC for work, budget is about £600 but I'm going to want to buy another monitor too, for dual screen. Which means I'm wanting dual DVI.

I don't do anything too intensive (it's mostly Office 2007, Photoshop and a little video editing), though it would be nice to have a decent graphics card for the potential of playing games after hours. Office 2007 is sluggish even on my current Core 2 Duo laptop so anything that's going to run that nice and briskly is going to be good for me.

Monitor-wise, I already have a Dell 2005FPW at work, which is a 20" widescreen LCD @ 1680x1050. I was thinking I'd try to get another Dell 20", but I've used mismatching dual screen setups for years now so it's not entirely necessary (though matching resolutions does make my life a little easier). If you want to chuck in a monitor then max budget is £600 including VAT & delivery.

Case will have to have front USB & audio. DVD writer. At least 250Gb storage; 500Gb preferred.

What I don't need:
- Keyboard and mouse
- Dedicated sound card
- Operating system

My problem is that I don't know how all the current hardware compares, i.e. which AMD vs Intel, ATI vs GeForce, Asus vs Abit etc. I just want the best bang I can get for my buck, and you guys know your stuff, or so I remember!

Top? Sorry if against the rules but was hoping to order this PC today...

Was thinking maybe I should just go with this system: Titan Gamer Intel Core 2 DUO E6550 2.33GHz SILENT DDR2 System... £504.08 inc VAT.

Bit worried about only 380W PSU and slightly crappy case, however.

Would it be worth going for the Titan Gamer Extreme Crossfire AMD Athlon X2 4200+ 2.2GHz SILENT DDR2 System (£586.33 inc VAT)? I don't need Crossfire but the rest of the spec seems rather nice.

Anyone? Pretty please?

edit: Won't be overclocking it.

Thanks for the link... how's this?

Total including VAT is £576.76, but that's all right because I actually have a monitor at home I can bring in and use.

Anybody foresee any problems with the spec above? Have I forgotten anything, and is everything compatible? Sorry to be a newb but hey, I can't keep up with all this stuff...

What drew you to the PSU? Pricepoint? Energy saving?

Only review I could find was in German and I don't speak it lol.

The other thread linked by KrisNZ, and the fact that it was only fifty quid. Personally I've always been an Antec man but comparing it with the Antec EarthWatts 500W they look to be pretty much exactly the same spec. Plus Antec could be crappy nowadays for all I know! :(

Anybody? Is this spec all right? Is everything going to play nicely together? Anything else I need?

Just wanna make sure before I order it...

should be fine fsp make decent psu's , mobo runs the wolfdale processors straight out the box from posts i've seen.

Hey guys,

Built the PC this morning... just installed Windows and getting it all up and going now. So far it's running like a dream. The thing boots in about 3 seconds, from BIOS beep to Windows desktop. It's a bit ridiculous. Gonna take ages to get it running the way I want it, but it's a good start thus far!

In the end I went for a Hiper 630W PSU, just because I fancied it.

Thanks for the help, anyone who gave it :)
