Hello Forum

I need some help building a strong budget gaming PC,
i like to play games like battlefield 3-4, call of duty's and
assassin's creed games. i will be playing on my 40inch TV,
i don't need a build that plays these games on ultra even though
that would be great, medium-high setting with a good FPS ratio,
im converting from PS3 so would like a built better graphically wise
than the ps3 please.. Problem is I'm on a tight budget £300-400

Thanks Guys

Honestly, I'd just get a PS4.

At your budget you're probably looking at an APU build, which won't run BF4 on medium-high settings unless you're at a pretty low resolution. You could perhaps wait for AMD's new Kaveri APUs to be released (should be later this month) which will be a decent improvement over the current Trinity and Richland chips.

Fulax's advice is worth considering, but if your heart is set on building a PC that will run your fave games at the level you wish, then one way is to do it in stages. You'd be able to use your computer and to play games on low settings straightaway, and then add to it to end up with a pretty decent computer that will give you the performance you want.

The weekly offers will change later on today, but as an example, this would be the first stage, using integrated graphics for the time being:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i5-4440 3.10GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor - Retail £143.99
1 x TeamGroup Vulcan ORANGE 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (TLAD38G1600HC9DC01) £59.99
1 x Asus H81M-PLUS Intel H81 (Socket 1150) DDR3 Micro ATX Motherboard £49.99
1 x EVGA 600W 80 Plus Bronze Power Supply (100-B1-0600-KR) £49.99
1 x Toshiba (7K1000.D) 500GB SATA 6GB/s 32MB Cache - OEM (DT01ACA050) HDD £35.99
1 x BitFenix Comrade Midi-Tower - Black £29.99
1 x OcUK 20x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM £16.99
Total : £401.03 (includes shipping : £11.75).

2. Use a free 3-month trial of Windows 8 for now. Buying the full version before the trial runs out would be the second stage.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Microsoft Windows 8.1 64-Bit DVD - OEM (WN7-00614) £69.95

3. Buy pretty much whichever video card you like, within reason (keep in mind the processor and mobo aren't suited for running the most expensive high-end cards, or rather, they will, but you likely won't get the best out of those cards).

YOUR BASKET
1 x MSI Radeon R9 270X Gaming Edition OC 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £155.99

4. Buy two 120mm fans for the front of the case, to help with cooling. This is optional, but helpful.

YOUR BASKET
2 x BitFenix Spectre Plain BLACK 120mm Fan £5.99 (£11.98)

So ultimately you'd be paying a total of around £480 PLUS whatever video card you go for. Whatever you decide, don't go into debt... it's not good. ;)
