hi guys, don't know if you remember me I was looking at building my son a gaming rig for xmas, well slight change in plans now its for his 16th birthday after some HUGE hints :-)

anyhoo I am after a rig that will play games like skyrim, arma III maybe battlefield 4 GTA etc with ease preferably on moderate setting if not higher :-)

I have already got:-

zalman z9 u3 case
avexir core blue series 8gb (2x4gb) DDR3 PC3-19200C10 2400MHz Dual channel memory kit
Seagate barracuda 7200RPM 1TB SATA 6GBS 64MB CACHE OEM (ST1000DM003) HDD
Thermaltake smart se 530w psu
anker 8000 DPI high precision mouse

I have got another £300 to spend no need for a monitor but I will need ideas for the headest and keyboard but this is not included in the £300.

looking at getting windows 8 too is this just the normal software as I read somewhere that its not for builders? but I will get this later on.

any and all help is very much gratefully received :-)

thanks guys

I have seen a few reviewers saying that the windows 8 is mainly targeted at mobile devices... strange! I take it that it is just the normal software that I buy?

Is there a bundle up there ^^ that's the most powerful pretend I know nothing ;-)

thanks

how about the dvd writer?

also one of the reviews on the gpu says it runs hot do you think the zalman case I have has adequate vents etc?

well I took the plunge and ordered;

VTX3D HD 7870 Black Boost Edition 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Intel Core i3-3220 3.30GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail
Gigabyte Z68AP-D3 Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard
OcUK 20x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black)

thank you for your advise I dare say I will be back when we are building it!!

thanks Hono for your tips on the fans!!

still looking for a desent headset??seen good review for the Plantronics 380's for £20?

also the windows 7 software is that just the normal software as some read ups say not for pc builders?

thanks again guys :-)

No worries fella.

Or gal as I am lol

can I add an extra fan in with my psu? I was looking at the cooler master BC120 blue led fan, and what is the fan controller?does this come with it or do I need to get one?

I have had all of the items delivered now looks mind boggling lol going to wait for kiddies to go back to school, book a day off and dedicate it to building the pc!

Don`t leave it to long before building. If one of your components happens to have a fault or is D.O.A, then after the 14 day satisfaction guarantee has expired you may be liable for postage costs when you return the item. But if you do it within the 14 days, OCUK will refund the cost if it turns out they sold you faulty goods. Most companies only give you 7 days.

Ahh thanks for the tip :-) were planning on building it tomorrow now hopefully it will be plane sailing :-z

Any ideas on the extra fan then?
