Hi there, im posting here on behalf of my sister who is currently at college and amongst others is doing a photography course. She currently has a digi cam which she isnt too happied with and is looking for a 35mm alternative. So with a budget of £200 where and on what can her money be spent best?
I understand the forum rules regarding competitors but as this I'm asking for non-digital cameras Id appreciate any recommendations as to where to buy from.

Thanks, Jamie.

are you set on getting something new or will second hand be an option as there are some great deals about on film camera's, presumably as she is on a photography course, you'd be looking for a SLR more than a point and shoot?

Wow nice quick responce there...She'd prefer it to be new but if second hand means she can get a good quality and reliable camera then i could persuade her to buy 2nd hand. Oh and yeah and shed be looking more for SLR cheers.

For £200 she could get quite a nice set up second hand.

The Canon EOS 50e with a lens or two could possibly be bought for about that much as a kit nowadays if you look in the right places.

A camera like that has the full manual controls, AV priority, Shutter priority, EOS system EF lenses etc in a nicely made reliable body that would certainly fit the bill.

Usual places to look are the auctions and some specialist photo dealers that would have taken in plenty of 35mm stock in as part exchange.
