i really hope someone can help me because i am at my wits end

i have recently formatted my hardrive and after installing windows and the updates i cannot get the geforce 6200 to go higher than 640x480 and 4 bit color

i have a feeling it is either the motherboard drivers (Asus p5w dh deluxe) or the monitor drivers (Viewsonic vx2025wm)

i don't have any of the disks that came with the hardware, it is all working hardware but the driver issues are insane and i am really fed up

i have downloaded what i think are the right mobo and monitor drivers but it still isn't working, i think it is obvious i am doing something very very wrong, and would really appreciate someone helping

many thanks

pete

I used to get this when i had an 8800 GT, couldn't use any drivers higher than 174 series, i fixed it by doing a reinstall, ive also heard installing SP3 fixes it as well, but thats on XP.

oh yeah i should have mentioned i have installed the nvidia drivers

i am at the point now that i would rather smash it to peices and burn it

the drivers for the monitor are the unsigned ones of of Viewsonics website, i try and install them and it gives me a readme file which explains i have to use run and type in msds something and select the monitor tab, but there is no monitor tab

i also am not confident regarding the mobo drivers, when i bought the board the disc included installed pretty much all the relevent drivers, the way you dload them of off the website is not so straightforward and there are loads and loads of them

i really need to get this sorted, for my own sanity if anything lol

hmmm maybe a reinstall would be a good idea, but i can see this all happening again once that is done:mad:

i have uninstalled the drivers for the gpu and can now change the resolution

the monitor is what i am having trouble installing properly

i don't think this is going to have a happy ending

When i was getting it i did have my monitor drivers on, but when i reinstalled i didnt bother with them, i just elft it on the windows one, the plug and play jobbie.

re-installed and booting now, if this works i am gonna be well chuffed

but i will still need to get the right monitor drivers working, so i can run it in widescreen

one step at a time eh?:D
