Help, Can't get Multiplier past x9.0

Hi Guys,

I've got a DFi Lanparty UT NF4 SLi-D with an AMD A64 3000 Venice

I bought this bored especially to overclock and I can't get my multiplier past 9.0?

I'm not sure how to unlock it so I can get it further for a better overclock?

Please help in desperate need of overclock!

The Bios is Pheonix,

lol... regular A64's are multiplier locked (upwards in case of any confusion)... ;)

Yep

You don't want the HT speed to go over 1Ghz so drop that down from 5X to 4X (up to 250MHz HTT), 3X (333HTT) or lower for faster HTT speeds

Start off with the memory on a low divider - set it to 100Mhz (DDR200/PC1600). This will remove the memory from the equation - you memory speed will increase with your HTT speed

Start increasing the HTT speed bit by bit testing for stability with Prime 95/OCCT/Super PI/etc. If the PC is unstable increase the voltage to the CPU slightly and repeat. I wouldn't go over 1.55V on air - keep an eye on your temps too

When you hit your limit then you can start to increase the memory speed. The stock speeds for common PC ratings are below:

PC1600 = 100MHz (DDR200)
PC2100 = 133MHz (DDR266)
PC2700 = 166MHz (DDR333)
PC3200 = 200MHz (DDR400) <- Standard memory speed for A64 PCs
PC3500 = 217MHz (DDR433)
PC3700 = 233MHz (DDR466)
PC4000 = 250MHz (DDR500)
PC4400 = 275MHz (DDR550)
PC4800 = 300MHz (DDR600)
PC5000 = 313MHz (DDR626)

This will give you an idea of what your memory is capable of

You can get a rough idea of what your memory will be running at by using the ratio for each memory setting in the BIOS and the HTT speed

DDR400/200MHz: This is 1:1. The memory speed is the same as the CPU speed
DDR333/166MHz: This is 1:1.2. The memory speed is the HTT speed / 1.2 (eg an HTT of 250MHz on this divider will give a memory speed of about 208MHz)
DDR266/133MHz: This is 1:1.5. The memory speed is the HTT speed / 1.5 (eg an HTT of 250MHz on this divider will give a memory speed of about 167MHz)
DDR200/100MHz: This is 1:2. The memory speed is half of the HTT speed (eg an HTT of 250MHz on this divider will give a memory speed of about 125MHz)

although there is a thread on xtremesystems about them trying to fix this. weird CPUs that just spontaniously unlocked themselves :eek:

here's hoping they figure out how to do this! :D
 
Its not something anyone can or would be able to do plus i dont think they've actually worked it out yet though it has been a while since i last checed the thread
 
loads have accidentally done it. although have no clue how they have done it, and cant recreate it :(

cpu-z shots as well. oddly, most lose the 64 bit extensions in their cpu-z screenies :confused:
