Well, I have my PS3 connected to the TV, through HDMI. Sound through here is fine. My parents have been complaining about the noise as of late due to nightly gaming sessions, so I bought a £5 bluetooth headset from Play.com.

I've managed to pair the device with the PS3, but I can't work out how to get audio outputting through it rather than the TV. The TV isn't so important; I can just mute it - but I can't get any sound to come through the headset.

In 'Audio Output Settings' under 'Sound Settings' in XML, there is no option to select my headset.

When I go to 'Accessory settings', I have connected it via Bluetooth and set it as an input and output device in 'Audio Device Settings' but to no avail. Still no sound coming through.

Am I missing something here? :(

What sort of Bluetooth Headset have you bought?

The PS3 supports "headsets" in the sense of a microphone + Headphone. For listening and talking to other people. game audio still comes through your TV/AMP etc.

Have you by any chance bought some of those bluetooth headphones instead (like those ones used on iPods and stuff to listen to music). to use these you would need your Bluetooth device to support a profile such as A2DP, which the PS3 doesn't.

What you need is to plugin normal (or wireless) headphones to your TV's headphone socket.

I have this:

Talknano PRO Mini PS3 Bluetooth Headset (USB Version)

I was under the impression that it was essentially a wireless headset. Maybe I was wrong. I can understand if audio comes through my TV, but that can be muted. I thought I could have audio through this headset too, or maybe its just limited to voice chat? :/

Yeah it's just a normal bluetooth headset/mic that you use on mobile phones, pcs, PS3 for voice chat.

On PS3 you can only use voice chat via headsets, anything else would would need to have a firmware/software update, and is unlikely to happen imo.

Gah, okay. I guess I'll look into some wireless headphones or something a bit later in the year. Actually...I could plug my PC headset into my TV I suppose, just without the mic functionality.

I'll give it a shot later, thanks for your help!
