Help, Cant get past post screen on grandsons pc.

Cant get past post screen on grandsons pc.

2500K @ stock, asus P8Z77-V LX, 8gb ram.

All runs normal, then freeze on press delete or F2 screen, cant do anything. Took mobo out of case, reset bios a few times, juggled with ram, tried with 3 diferent hdds and 2 psus. Tried with onboard gfx only also, no avail.
Looks like only mobo and cpu left to be culprit. Am i right ?
 
I've had it before where the backplate on the heatsink was on too tight either bending the board or causing a short on components underneath.
 
Was running fine, then he put in a Asus PCE-N15 300Mbps 802.11B/G/N Wireless PCI-E Network Adapter. Then this.

Took everything out of case and is on mobo box, all fans spin, 1 beep as normal. Must be mobo somehow died :confused:
 
Try an overnight CMOS battery removal,it could have also corrupted the BIOS in some way

New BIOS chip is £10 and there's no guarantee that it will fix it

All I can think of
 
Overnight no help, now ill just try and find a cheap Socket 1155 mobo, not many around now.
