Ages ago when the Vista RC was out I installed it onto one of my hard drives but left a lot of other files on there that I need. I've only just remembered that the RC is still on there, if I highlight the folder and press delete I can't delete it because a message saying "FXSEXT.ecf access denied" Anyway of forcing a delete?

On the drive with Vista there are no partitions, so there is just a Windows folder with all my other files. My version of XP is running off a different drive.

I may have to borrow a HDD from work and just backup everything I need and then wipe the drive with Vista on it.

Use a program like unlocker to delete them, you can right-click to delete them or do it on next reboot if it cannot do them straight away.

i had problems deleteing vista directories from within xp in the past. i try browsing the folder structure down a few levels but i still couldn't get rid. even in safe mode after taking ownership of the folders/files, it wouldn't go. in the end i had to juggle my stuff around and format the partition. it was the only way.

admittedly i didn't try any 3rd party tools. you might have some luck with those. :)
