help! cant install or unistall anything

as above im have been having problems uninstalling and programs or even trying to uninstall drivers from my windows 7 rig, just hangs saying trying to uninstall. also it refuses to install anything, tried doing a system restore nothing, not sure if its related but it wont pick up my wireless xbox 360 controller either wired or through the wireless controller box. i have looked around on the net but not had much luck. any ideas?

so ran a virus scan (Microsoft security essentials and came up with one virus that was removed, unfortunately this has not stopped the problems and i also have noticed which is very weird is that when i tried to install the drivers for my xbox wireless adapter it didn't install ....until i turned my monitor off and it installed straight away, this went the same for when i shut my computer down, i.e. my computer doesn't shut down unless i turn the monitor off first! :/ this also goes happens when i try and install other programs and wont detect my xbox controller until the monitor is off!

i have tried updating my moniter driver but they are fully up to date! help!

Open up task manager and see if there is any slightly weird processes running, if there are end it, that could be the culprit.

Once done that (if there is one) download and run malwarebytes
