Hi all,

I've tried to install windows media centre (reinstall) without using the floppy disk for the sata drivers. This didn't work so I tried using Nlite to slipstream the necessary drivers onto cd but that doesn't seem to work either. I'm a wee bit stuck now, because while I have a floppy drive it refuses to read any disks anymore.

Help appreciated :)

GRRR  I just changed the drivers to ones from a different folder on the new slipstreamed dvd and it still doesn't bloody work :(

Could you elaborate? Does it install OK? If windows can see the disc in the install program then you haven't got a driver issue. The BIOS is either trying to boot off the wrong disc/partition or the boot sector is screwy.

Hi guys,

Thanks for your replies. I got as far as booting off the cd and it copying the initial files (all the drivers etc). I managed to get a floppy drive out of the pc I'm currently typing on (in our lounge) and it still has the ntldr error so as you say correctly its not drivers :(

Once installed, try booting off the CD again. Choose Recovery Console and it will drop to a DOS-style prompt after typing in your Administrator password.

You then need to run 'fixboot C:' and 'fixmbr' (most probably just fixmbr, but it won't harm to do both).

Thanks for the reply mate, I've just copied the ntldr and ntdetect across, and it doesn't give me the ntldr error anymore. However, I've now got a driver irql not less or equal problem and it refuses to continue setup! Does anyone have any ideas what it would be? Perhaps I need to format again and install windows without the drivers for the sata?

Can someone please help me with this, I'm tearing my hair out here. Error is as follows (or roughly)

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

blah blah blah blah

0x000000D1 C0xF8A1400 0x000000FF 0X00000008 0xFRa81400
