Help choose top motherboard

Gigabyte board looks good, similar to the MX5 i have. Depends if you like white.

I presume it's looks you're debating here and not functionality?

As of the last week i have the GA-Z170X-Gaming 7 Intel Z170 kinda one below you have linked to ,, and to be honest i have no complaints at all , i did update the latest bios and a part from that its all good .

One great thing ive found out is that gigabyte have revamped all there software/utilities
and guess what they actual work ,, eg easytune ambient light , they all install into a handy lilltle app call gigabyte app center ,quite neat and unintrusive

I have great control over the fans connected to the fan headers on board .

Overclocking is a breeze either in the bios or with easytune which in the past hasn't been fit for anything and just caused me problems .

I have a i7 6700k @ 4.5 with stock voltage which the board gives me @ 1.275 also just had to set LLC to high and i've been 100% stable after a battery of the usually tests

Temps with a corsair H105 have been about 45-55 in prime which compared to my old i73770k is nothing short of a fantastic really .

sound solution seems to be good compared to other board partners .

But i think i'm going to put my sound card in as when i connect via a optical cable it doesn't give me the true dts dolby on my logitech Z906 5.1 Surround Sound Speaker system , which i find strange as my sound card isn't much different from the on board creative sound core 3d chip ,, my sound card is a Creative Sound Blaster Recon3D PCIe

maybe ive haven't setup it correctly or something, when i have time i will investigate more

However even with this point the onboard sound is still much much better the the normal realtek that most other boards seem to use

If you are looking at spending that sort of money on a board then you should be looking at X99, especially if you need the extra pci-e lanes. Spending that sort of money on a Z170 board is crazy and it won't perform any better than a board at £150 or less.

no point go for x99, to expensive
anyway i will use maximum two cards in sli

Really? You think X99 is too expensive yet you are looking at Z170 boards over £400!! Why do you want to spend that much when something like this or even this will do the job just as well. You can get a 5820k and decent X99 board for less than £500.

Explain me please what the point to go for lower GHz processors for gaming? But in this Gigabyte i like design so much

I was toying with the idea of those boards recently but as others have eluded to I feel like they are over priced for what they are. In the end i've gone with the ASUS Z170 Deluxe which is a good £100 cheaper and basically has everything the boards you've mentioned have...

Big fan of the Asus boards in terms of easy compatibility, simple and effective overclocks - this board also has some good control for water cooling with a dedicated pump header. In short think carefully about what this higher cost board is giving you for the money given your requirements.

Stable overclocks on mine are pretty tasty too, both CPU and GPU.

Overclocked a 5820K should hit around 4.5Ghz with a decent cooler, a similar overclock to Skylake. The bonus is more cores and more pci-e lanes. There's also the upgrade route to Broadwell E when they release later in the year. If spending that sort of money that's were my money would be going, not on a extremely overpriced Z170 board.
