Got myself a lab PC which I've installed Server 2008 R2 on to play with at home. It's not actually going to be doing any serving duties as such, I just want to mess around with roles and more importantly play with VMWare Workstation.

It's a Lenovo M90p CoreI5 desktop with 4GB currently installed. The tech-spec page on the Lenovo website tells me it's an 8GB max board, and it takes UDIMM, PC3-10600 1333MHz DDR3 so what would you guys recommend I fill the 2 empty 4GB slots with so my VM's don't go hungry?

I'm not going to be pushing this thing by any means as it's just a sandbox so performance isn't the main objective really, so is cheap & chearful the way to go here? Seen 4GB Corsair Value at less than £20.

Cheers :)

Well if you aren't going to be pushing it and performance isn't the main objective go as cheap as you can but avoid value products.

I wouldn't stuff my face with smartprice food so I'm definitely not sticking any smartprice components in my rig!

Corsair XMS3 is good RAM. I've had a kit I've been using for two years now and I've not had a problem.

There looks to be no difference other than the heat spreaders, which will have make a negligible difference. The Corsair XMS3 has better heat spreaders but costs more.

I would just go with which ever brand you feel is more trustworthy and whichever design of heat spreader looks better in your system.
