help choosing a monitor please 144hz ? or not

hi guys ive been out the pc building game for far to long ow and basically play xbox for gaming

but son number 2 has decided he wants to go from mainly xbox to pc gaming

hes got the following system being built

i5 6600k skylake
16 gb fury ram
gigabyte windforce 980ti graphics card
ssd

etc etc

now this has not left him much from his budget lol maybe 150-200 pounds

he needs a monitor that will accomodate both his pc and his xbox one

i hear 144hz one is the way to go but will that also play xbox ok through hdmi

anyone suggest a suitable monitor within price range that has 2 hdmi ports ?

23 or 24 inch would be ideal size
