System spec
CPU - I5 2500K
Ram - 2 x 4GB Corsair Vengeance
Mobo - Gigabyte Z68-AP
GFX - GTX580
CPU Cooling - Corsair H70
1 x SSD & 1 x 3.5" HDD

Current case - Antec P182

Current case has excellent build quality and is very quiet, cooling is sufficient with all fans on low setting. I do not really want a larger case, smaller would be a bonus. The dust filters are excellent and so easy to clean this is a feature I would like to keep in a new case, many of the cases in my list below when reading reviews have slipped up in this regard.
(Ideally the USB ports would not be on the top of the case either as it is going under a desk, but this wouldn't be a deal breaker.
What I don't want to end up with though is a case that feels like it has an inferior build quality, tinny rattly cases are not my bag.

Cases I have considered and my comments

Corsair 540R - concerns over build quality
Fractal Design define R5 - concerned it's going to feel plasticy after coming form a P182
Antect P380 (not out yet I know) - essentially I am paying for the same case I already have, and it's a hefty price to pay, albeit with a few updates.
Corsair 780T - seemed perfect until I saw how big it was :(
Fractal Design R2 Midi - seems to be a smaller R5 but with lower build quality
NZXT 440 - PERFECT, no ODD slot (FFS!!)
Corsair 330R - reviews suggest it is overpriced for what you get

There are more but I can't remember off the top of my head

I'm in the same position as the OP; P182 and ready for a change :p

I'll be watching this thread closely...

P182 was a great case back in the day. I have one myself, in terms of the build quality, the Performance Series from Antec is THE BEST!

The P280 or P380 is a great choice. I suggest you hold fire for a few hours, I'm currently taking a load of images of the P380 being striped down. So wait for me to finish, and publish them.

I've just upgraded from an Antec P180 to a Fractal R5 and I'm absolutely delighted with it. It's good quality, very quiet and a joy to build in.
Can I ask what the graphic card clearance is between the back of the case and the hard drive cage? I need at least 30cm for my R290 ;)

Sorry, I should have checked the Fractal site first...

Graphics cards up to 310 mm in length with the top HDD cage installed; with the top cage removed, graphics cards up to 440 mm in length may be installed

Sorry, I should have checked the Fractal site first...

You know that there's an option called 'EDIT'? ;)

Anyway, my vote goes to R5, the possibilities with this case are unreal for the price :D

About the R5, can I ask how much clearance there is between the optical bays and the front door when it is shut? I.e does it close flush with the case?

I've got a Define R4 and it's the best case I've ever owned or built in.

Much better quality than the 600T and various NZXT cases I've owned and given away in the past.

Extremely quiet with the fans all running at 5V.

Needs a good clean but I've not had time.
