Help choosing a new monitor

So my Sammy SyncMaster is around 4 or 5 years old now and has seen better days. It's time for an upgrade. My trouble is I don't know whether to go for a 1080p monitor at 120/144hz or go for 1440p. I do play a fair amount of Counter Strike which suggests I should opt for 1080p at a higher refresh rate (and I'm leaning that way atm) but damn, those 1440p monitors are tempting. Thing is I'm not even sure my 2gb 770 will cope at 1440p with decent in game settings? And there are some great delas on 1080p monitors atm. So yeah, I'm looking for advice and suggestions on which monitor to buy basically.

TIA for any help :)

Knew I'd forgot something. Budget is around £300/350 give or take. There's a bit of wiggling room as far as the budget goes ie. I can spend more if it's really worth it. Currently on a 23" screen which I'm comfortable with but also wouldn't mind going up to 27".

Cheers

That actually looks ideal, being able to rotate the screen would come in handy for me as I have limited space. I guess my next question would be which cables will I need to set it all up? My card has 3x mini HDMI slots (no good for 120hz I believe?) and 1 x Display Port. I'd also like to keep my current 60hz monitor as a second monitor and ideally extend the desktop. That wont affect FPS on the 120hz monitor will it?

Meh, the "this week only" sale on that monitor ended today as I was about to order. Guess I'll keep looking.
