A few weeks ago my PSU died on my pc and won't come back to life, but I'm a bit short on funds for a replacement.

I was just looking for some advice on what to get, I do play games on my PC, my GPU is only a 1gb 4850 and my motherboard is a Gygabyte S-series M61PME-S2P.

I'm not really sure but I was under the impression the PSU has an effect on these things. The one I have before was a Corsair HX 450w. I was just looking for something that is around the same performance.

I was looking at this one http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-062-OP&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat=

But I wasn't sure if it would be ok with my motherboard etc so thought i'd ask here before I buy. Any other suggestions are welcome :)

Thanks :)

Its safe to say I have no idea what I'm looking for lol. I'm not even sure what effect a PSU has on the PC, apart from it supplying power obviously.

Is the one you linked better than my broken one (when it worked)?. I just want my PC to turn on, but I don't want to lose any performance, not that I had much.

The Corsair I have linked to is spot on and I would rate its abilitys as about the same as your 450VX

How old is the Corsair PSU?

According to this

http://www.corsair.com/support/

The HX450 has a 7 year Warranty with Corsair.

You'll need to RMA it to them, 1st thing to do is go here

http://www.corsair.com/support/

All you need to tell them is when & what Uk retailer you bought it from, you once your RMA is authorised by them you'll need to send it to their RMA depot in Holland

(costs about 20-25 quid) I used interparcel to return mine.

You'll probably get a much more powerful PSU in its place if they confirm its faulty (I did)

you can then use the new one or sell it on.
