Hi

I'm struggling to choose the right Windows 10 tablet with keyboard or 2 in 1 and would really appreciate some advice as I don't really know much about computer specs

I will be using it for the following tasks
  • Downloading and watching films
  • Downloading music
  • Surfing the net
  • Social Media
  • Watching Netflix and YouTube
  • Connecting to my TV (HDMI and USB connections available) to watch live streams
I want to keep the cost down as far as possible but at the same time I want a machine that is powerful enough to be able to cope with the above tasks without any problems

I definitely want a Windows 10 machine

I also need good battery life for watching films whilst travelling

Any thoughts would be much appreciated

Cheers

I think it would be very helpful if you set a budget for this device. All of the tasks you list are basic and will be handled by most current tech but you could pay £1000 or £180. Keyboard is quite a key element too as if you plan to do a lot of typing then many of the cheaper devices will irritate you. I have a Lenovo Yoga from a few years ago. With an SSd upgrade its a great little device but the keyboard is awful. Set a budget and I'll try and help.

Hi thanks for your reply.

I've been speaking with my brother who knows a bit about computers. He thinks i should get a fairly cheap tablet for my daughter and then a 2 in 1 machine for myself. So I'm now looking at 2 devices

My daughter is only 3 she's currently using an I-Pad but I hate it and can't easily transfer films onto it. I'd like to get her a fairly cheap tablet that does the following

  • Transfer files from my windows laptop via USB
  • Powerful enough to watch films and stream from YouTube and Netflix
  • Robust as she is a toddler
  • Long battery life as I am taking her to New Zealand next year = long flights
The requirements for my machine are
  • A decent keyboard for word documents, emails etc
  • Powerful enough to download music and films at the same time as running several applications and surfing the net
  • USB, HDMI connections
  • Long as possible battery life
  • Windows 10 OS
My brother knows a bit about computers and has suggested as a minimum I5 processer, 8GB RAM and 250GB SSD so as to future proof the machine and incase I do decide to do something that requires a bit more power (I don't want to be buying another machine for quite a while). Also I'm currently using a similar spec on my Lenovo Thinkpad which I need to now use purely as a work machine. Incidentally, this has an amazing keyboard which makes your comment about making sure I get a decent keyboard even more relevant!

I don't really have a specific budget but I guess about £1k for both would be good. I can be flexible though if it means I get a far superior machine for the sake of a few extra quid

Cheers
