i have 800 pound was planning on buying another 6950 and xfiring, will 2 6950s play games at the higest setting, or would i be best using the full 800 and getting 2 580s and selling my 6950, am new too gaming on pc and dont really know what i can get out of the pc performance wise

I'd grab a second 6950, they scale very well in xfire and the performance difference between those and 580 SLi is about 15% - imho not worth the price difference.

due to ati driver support once the card is second gen id go 580 route tbh and sell what you have now

At 1920x1080 (the resolution of your monitor) Crossfired HD 6950's would give you very good performance.

See this review for an idea of what they can do.

Personally I've never had any trouble with ATI/AMD drivers and I've used 3 different Crossfire setups.

I'm sure that a lot of the "problems" which are reported are down to user error.
