Case: Caselabs sma8
Motherboard: Rampage Edition 10 - Need
CPU: Intel 5930K Hex-Core
RAM: 16gb Corsair LPX DDR4
SSD 1: V-Nand SSD 950 Pro 512gb
SSD 2: 960GB SanDisk Ultra II SSD
SSD 3: 960GB SanDisk Ultra II SSD
PSU: EVGA SuperNova P2 1000w

I will be building the above system soon. It will be in a loop. I already have the processor, ram, ssd's and the psu. I have a Rampage V but will swap it out for the edition 10.

I wanted to know what was worth getting. 1070 in sli, 1080 single or waiting until january to get 1080 in sli? I ordered the case and will get it sometime in july/august. I game at 1440p and will soon get a 4k monitor to join it for those beautiful non-fps games. If i get 1070 in sli i can get them straight away also a single 1080, but a SLI 1080 will have to wait till january. Not sure what to get.

If you have other ideas, do tell plz

single 1080 a good custom one you can OC
ok i will expand a bit.
some reviews reported that nvidia is protecting the value of the 1080, it's not just the cutdown specs, but even Overclocking, they made sure to not repeat what happened with the 970 that OCed ruined the value of the 980.
bandwidth of the 1070 wont make it scale well in higher resolution which seem to be one of your goals, and for 400£ 1070 just doesnt seem that exciting to me.
the confusing part is the date you threw in july/august and january, so here is what i think, if you are going to build your rig right now then yea go for a 1080, but if you are going to build your rig in steps and like finish it during the summer, then leave the GPU as the last part to buy because :
1- with few months down the road price will drop
2- some higher end GPU might be announced Q4 like Vega or GP102, if thats the case then would be better to get a cheaper GPU to fill the gap untill the new high end is released.
