Hi there!

I was just wondering if any of you guys could help us on the memory front of my new system I'm building. I've currently ordered the 2700k and the maximus extreme-z. I'm not too sure what sort of thing to go for whether its Cas or MHz, and if the speed makes that much of a difference over the amount of memory installed.

I've seen a few kits including 16gb but at 1600mhz for instance but then there's kits that run at 2000mhz+ but with less memory for the same price like only 8gb etc. so what suggestions do you think I should go for?

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Just get a 1600MHz kit of whatever capacity you're looking for.

Faster RAM for Sandy Bridge offers liitle extra performance for the extra cost.

Also you'll want low profile RAM if you have a big CPU cooler.

8GB:

Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit £39.95, low profile

16GB two of the above or:

G.Skill RipJawsZ 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual/Quad Channel Kit £79.99, fairly low profile

Kingston HyperX Genesis 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual/Quad Channel Kit £79.99, low profile
