Help choosing monitor 27" 1440p

I'm trying to choose a new monitor to pair with a PowerColor Red Devil Vega 64, £500 is the most I would want to spend.

I'm currently using a BenQ G2220HD 22" 1080p, so most monitors are probably going to feel like a big upgrade.

I kind of feel like I'm going in circles now. I mostly play rpg games The Witcher, Kingdom Come: Deliverance and the like. I rarely play fast paced fps games anymore maybe Doom when I feel like it.

So far I'm looking at the Samsung C27HG70 27" and the MSI Optix MAG27CQ 27".

Is the Samsung worth the extra hundred for its added features?
Am I overlooking anything better in the 27" range?

Haven't had this much trouble since trying to choose a pair of headphones :)

Dell 2719DGF

I would avoid the monitors you mentioned due to them being VA panels. I had the MSI MPG27CQ for about a week in early January and had to return it, cant deal with the blur/smearing/ghosting that VA panels give off. Was even worse with lower Hz making freesync unusable and still highly noticeable at 144Hz for me anyway. Also tried the Hannspree 32" VA panel, same issues.

Post hijack of sorts.
Am looking at the same requirement of monitor. Currently running an old Samsung 24" at 1080p off a 760GTX (yes its 6 years old).
It is my second machine the kids use for Fortnite.
No purists in this house...

the Dell or stick with 1080p and go to 144Hz with AOC C27G1 27" 1920x1080 VA 144Hz FreeSync Curved Widescreen LED Gaming Monitor.
Any bigger than 27 then generally are 4K which is not practical yet for FPS games and my modest budget for PCs

AAAARGH just found this My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £211.09 (includes shipping: £11.10)

I want to upgrade the monitor now but not the graphics card yet. I appreciate the current card will struggle at 1440p but I will also use for work. I will have the monitor longer than the card and want a bigger screen size.
I bought the AOC 32" 75Hz last Black Friday but is too big to attach to the second machine and upgrade mine because would be sitting too close to it.

Aside - I have a 6GB 1060 GTX in my main machine and this is the card that will end up in the machine above, unless....
I should stray away from Nvidia and buy a Radeon to benefit from Freesync.
If so which card.

I have the Dell S2716DG 2k 144p and love it. You can get one for around £450 online. Once you adjust the colour settings it looks great (they are a little bland out of the box)

The Dell S2719DGF is cheaper and superior in terms of colour and gamma in general. Units can vary of course.

It being a Freesync monitor and with Nvidia compatibility G-sync means it has support for AMD and Nvidia video cards.

I will be in the same position in a couple of months. Building up my new system at the moment. A little over your max budget but have you thought about the new Gigabyte Aorus AD27QD? Some good reviews about and some really interesting features. Also the added benefit of UK Support and Warranty. There is just the uncertainty of if it will support G-Sync with the new nvidia support.

I thought about this one. G sync support from limited number of reviews works fine. Unless you really want the extra features (I did not) its a touch on the high side price wise.

Downside for me, it has the exact same response time as my existing I.P.S. one feature that really bugged me about the screen over- time.

Was surprised to discover its response is the same as a 'not great but acceptable for gaming ' response time of a far older non-gaming I.P.S.

I should have the AOC G2590PX next week and can post what it's like if needed and it should be G-sync compatible certified as it's basically the same as the FX version, just with a better stand.

No need to get rid of your 1060 if you get the 1080p monitor. You could even use the 1060 at 1440p for a while until you decide to upgrade as G-sync will benefit you.

25 inches is the biggest I would go for 1080p to be honest, higher than that, 1440p.

Sorry I wasn't clear am keeping the 1060 on my AOC 32" QHD bought from OCUK. It is a new monitor for the 760GTX until I can afford the upgrade that card - which is likely to be the 1060 if I go and buy a 2060...
So today I rigged up the AOC on the 760 and it worked fine even played Fortnite but kept that on 1080p resolution and it didn't look bad.

Well, I got impatient and pulled the trigger on the C27HG70 the same day as my post, what a mistake that was haha.

This monitor is not flicker free. I've tried every setting available, even adjusted the brightness, constrast and tried dp, hdmi cables.

I'm sensitive to flickering. I used to be able to see the flicker on a 60hz CRT, thought Samsung would have produced a flicker free screen if thats what they advertised.
The eye strain and nausea is quite bad for me, even the light on the back flickers for god sake.

It's a shame, it's a stunning screen when viewing hdr videos on youtube and playing games (not sure if hdr is working due to Win10, but stunning anyway).

Looks like I'll have to see about sending it back. :(
Think I might hold out for the Gigabyte Aorus AD27QD reviews or go back to a TN.

Suggestions still appreciated :p
