I currently have a classic 5D and a 450D and looking to upgrade them. I was originally going to go for a 5D MKII but after reading reviews the AF hasn't been sorted yet? I like the MKIII but it's a little expensive for pleasure use.

Looking to spend around £1000

I don't really know the pros and cons of FF so havn't really given it much consideration.
Mainly it's landscape and wildlife.

Pros of FF; greater MPs usually, better quality usually, exact focal length:35mm equivalent for lenses (ie wider focal length on all lenses vs cropped).

Cons; not many really, apart from price.

What do you actually shoot? The AF on the 5D mk ii is the same as the mk 1. If you need or want the higher MP, the 5D mk ii is a nice camera to get. The ISO performance is solid on it.

However, if you don't have a tonne of lenses that you wish to keep, you could jump ship to nikon and the sale of the existing camera bodies would fund some nice glass + body combinations.

You might be able to get a Nikon D700.

Why do you want to upgrade?

I invested in a 100 400 L lens so looking for canon ideally.

I prefer the 5D for image quality even when the AF drives me nuts but i'm struggling with action shots and always seem to end up using the 450D :(

Canon people, is the 1Dmkii a stupid suggestion? Full frame and (from the specs) seems to have more sophisticated AF then the 5Dmkii.

EDIT: I meant the 1Dsmkii

I think Rojin on here owns one, so might be a good person to ask. I've never used one so can't comment on how good they are.

I don't think you'd have a d700 for £1000, Even i payed more and i got mine because the guy made a mistake while charging me, He was to busy looking at my ****, True story.

Theres been a few on the TP forums that have gone for £1000, but they've been pretty battered by the user though with high shutter counts. I'd not personally touch a D700 if it had around 100k shutter actuations on it as its shutter isn't rated for a vastly higher amount (150k iirc). Sure it can last longer, but its not a guarantee!

i got mine with 958 shots for £1009.99 But i was undercharged because the dope serving me was looking where he shouldn't have ;) :D

1Ds Mark 2 is a good shout. Mates got two of them, one of them ate its own shutter after 40K actuations and the other he got for £800 with 4K on it and a years warranty.

Lacks video, MP count, slight dynamic range/colour depth/ISO capability of the 5Dii though.

I'd go for the 5Dii personally!

MPB do have one at £939, but it's got a few more actuations then yours does.

Well 190,827 to be exact.

But given the OP it attached to his L glass swapping to Nikon isn't the solution.
