hi, my dad owns a computer company and im thinking of getting him a good keyboard/mouse for christmas. could someone please tell me what a good keyboard/mouse setup is good for long office hours of typing??

the budget is around £100 for both, he likes mid - high profile keys. and mechanical would be good. the media keys dont really matter, or the lighting

Cherry MX Blue switches are the best for typing, but they're really noisy. Using one myself and I can type essays without my hands feeling sore after a long period of time. Brown is a good alternative if your friend doesn't want them too loud.

The MK-50 will do if your friend isn't too fussed over keyboard features.

Orcvader suggested a brilliant keyboard but will your dad want a "gaming" style keyboard.

For the mouse get a G400. Can't go wrong with one of those.

I would say a cherry MX keyboard, brown keys. And yeah, the G400 is a nice mouse. Doesn't look out of place in an office.

The Qpad doesn't actually look bad and flashy. I have the MX-85 with browns, the backlit version. The layout isn't weird either. Feels like sturdy regular keyboard with a nice positive key action, and nice features.

Correction : the MK-50 doesn't have the USB hub, or the audio hub. It's basically the MK-85 shell, with the ports blocked. hmm... But there are a few options for mechanical keyboards that are better suited to office environments (Cherry does a few).

Problem with mechanical, is the noise. In an open floor office, probably not a good idea. In a closed office, no problem.

Keyboards like Apple's are much quieter. I quite like the Logitech Illuminated Keyboard, it's low profile, so typing is a different experience, but still found it very satisfying.

I guess it's not ricer like a Corsair K90.
I'd say get a CM storm but that doesn't come with a num pad. Unless you go with the more expensive one but there is no reason to get one when the MK-50 offers everything.

In other words get the MK-50 :D
