hi all
im due an upgrade but im unsure which card to get.
i have allready chosen the other parts.
Intel Core 2 DUO E6600.
asus P5B Deluxe.
Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2-6400C5 TwinX (2x1GB).
now im undecided whether to go for the x1950xtx 512, or the x1950xt 256.
with about £100 difference i need to be sure im buying the right card as i only upgrade once every couple of years. but as im going to be using a 26" lcd hdtv as a monitor i wont be playing at extreme resolutions, but want a card that will still play top games in a 1-2 years from now.
having read this article im being swayed to the xtx 512 http://www.pureoverclock.com/article33-6.html
should i just plum for the 512 version to ensure it lasts until my next upgrade?
thanks

Agreed,

Pointless spending nearly 300 quid on a x1950 512mb.

Might aswell get a 8800 GTS this will play all future DX 10 games.

And as you have stated that you wish the card to last 1-2yrs.

Then this will be the smartest option.

makes sense really seems in game graphics are only going to get more complex and i didnt realise vista/dx 10 was so close to release.
one more problem i might have is my wether my psu would be up to the job of powering a 8800, its a tagan tg480 u01?.
looks like im going to break the bank with this upgrade.
thanks again
