Hi,

In 2019 I brought a 16gb AMD Ryzen 1400 system @ 3.60GHz, from here. I'm looking at upgrading the 16gb of ram with another 16gb.
Currently it has 2 sticks of Corsair DDR4 Vengeance LPX 1.2v @2400Mhz.

I was wondering if its ok to add another 2 sticks of 16gb. The closest fit I can find on OC is the Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 PC4-25600C16 3600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMK16GX4M2D3600C16

I know very little about ram compatibility issues, so would these work together ok ? If not, what are the other options ?

Motherboard by the way is a Gigabyte B450M DS3H

Thanks.

You're generally better off not mixing different speeds / capacities, and equally probably better off looking at the "mainstream" DDR4 speeds - either 3200Mhz or 3600Mhz as there will be a bit more choice.

I would replace your current 16GB kit with the 32GB Team Group kit below (you can either resell the old kit or reuse it in another PC etc).
32GB is generally plenty of memory, unless you've a very specific need - adding more won't make the PC any faster.

Depending on what you do with your PC, you could also pick up a decent CPU upgrade, in the form of a Ryzen 5 5600X, which is a drop in replacement (*might just need a BIOS update first) for your Ryzen 1400, but delivers almost 3 times the performance!

Thanks for that. Just ordered the ram, and might upgrade the CPU at later date. The PC has served me well for 3d rendering, video / photo editing and now some AI training, so thought it was time for a minor upgrade.
