Hiyahh!

Right... im not a pro... but i know what im doing when it comes to computers :)

That being said... today i am having issues with my main pc (on media center now)! It is refusing to turn on :(

Push the power button... and nothing happens... have pulled it apart, the power button itself is fine :)

Tried resetting the cmos, removing all powered devices except essentials and basically done all the wee things i can think of... but no joy!

Here is the thing, it is a revision 1 hiper 580, made 09/05... making it 2 years 1 months old...! It has shown no signs of breaking tho!

Oh yeah... it is still lit up at the back of the psu... and so is the mother board, the wee green light that says it is gettin power is on :)

Any ideas... has the psu given up?

Thanks!

Craig!! :P

Have you tried disconnecting the power from the mains, leaving it 20 seconds, and reconnecting it?

So you get absoloutely nothing when you go to turn it on? Nice...

Have you tried a different psu by any chance? You say it isnt your main rig so I'm assuming you have another pc somewhere, try the psu from that if you feel upto it.

I know you have tried the power switch but you could always try shorting the power switch pins on the motherboard just to definetly rule that out.

yeah buddy, its been off for hours... over night to start with then another few hours there totally disconnected from the pc whilst i watched smallville and heroes lol

nothing at all... not even a whisper of a fan, no click... just nothing

i have this media center one... but dont think the psu would be up to much... its not the newest... p4 630. i dont even know what form it wouldbe being in a peoper media center built thing

Hmmmm i dunno about shorting... might not be up to doing tht with power goingthrough the system lol

Fair enough about the shorting, cause if you catch the wrong pins you can jaff the bored up.

Well have a look at the psu, see what wattage it is and give it a go i guess, after all you only want it to post, not boot into windows :)
