Help configuring HP switch

Hey all,

When initially configuring my procurve, it asked for the gateway ip.

I set this to the ip of my router, because I wasn't sure what to set it as. Now, if I visit the switch ip (192.168.1.1) I get nothing. No login screen.

Essentially I can't log in to manage it, so I'm wondering if I should have set the gateway ip, to the same value as the switch ip?

Also.. If I turn my router to bridge mode, can I make the switch give out the static ips (I have static now, via the modem) and do NAT.

As you can tell I'm a networking n00b, so be gentle

Try manually configuring your computers IP address to say, 192.168.1.2 and then plug it into the switch directly. Navigate to 192.168.1.1 and see if you can access the page.
