Ok let me just say first of all, I'm not a computer genius :( lol

Well, Today my Asus ATI Radeon HD 6970 2048MB GDDR5 came!

but what I found is...

1. It looks like this card, not the one i ordered?

And 2. When I'm plugging it in, It not giving me no video?!

I've plugged in the PCI Express power leads and the fans are turning...but still nothing?!

I honestly don't have a clue what is happening? Could it be my motherboard? :/

- Power Supply: OCZ ZS 650w PSU
- CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 850 "95W" Edition 3.30Ghz overclocked to 3.80Ghz
- Motherboard: AMD 990FX DDR3 Motherboard
- Cooler: OcUK H2 Flo Cooler
- RAM: 8GB DDR3 1600MHz
- Hard Drive: 500GB HDD
- Graphics Card: AMD 5450 GFX Card (what I had in it before, Wanting to upgrade to the one I'm talking about :/ )
- Sound: 7.1 Channel Sound (On-Board)
-Windows Ultimate 64-bit
- Optical Drive: LG DVD+/-RW SATA Drive

Ok down to the PCI power connectors...I only have two PCI leads? There is one 8 pin and one 6 pin? the first 8 pin one, is in to parts... :/ (one part with 6 and then another 2 at the side)

And I'm using a Phillips screen...

Now that you've mentioned it, Will it matter me using a normal DVI cable, or should I be using a DVI-D? Or they the same thing? :/ (It has DVI and HDMI on the other end? - I'm using the HDMI to ?DVI/DVI-D? converter... :/

I'm not the best at computer, So please help! :(

If you click the first link i sent you to, then press on the images and look at the second image, the card looks TOTALLY different...I mean its not even dual fan or anything, the one I have looks like the second one I sent you to.........
and on the box it says "HD6750 DirectCU II"
Although it says that it has a 890MHz overclock, so I'm not really bothered because at least I'm getting what I payed for, Right? :/

And also, I can use my OLD GPU, and it works with this monitor (What I'm doing now) and I don't know, I have 1 8 pin power and one 6 pin, but I have converter(?) to go from a 6 pin to a 8pin? that I got with the card, Should that be used? :/

YES! :) So thats out the way, I've connected the 6 pin to 8 pin converter...Plugged ONE of the 6 pin in to the end and then into the 8 pin, So I have both 8 pins plugged in now, So all I need now is a DVI to DVI cable and not a DVI to HDMI? :/

You can use either cable to connect to the monitor it's just that DVI to DVI always seems to be more straighforward.

Right, So I have all the pins in, So why is the card still not giving me video? :/ Should I by a DVI to DVI? Then taht should work? if not then how do I get it to be two 8 pins? I have the converter plugged in so there is two 8 pins plugged in now...?

I think your difficulty may be that only using one 6 pin cable with the adapter doesn't actually connect all 8 pins.

If you follow the cables from the 6 pin you've connected then they don't connect to all 8 pins on the card.

Do you have a molex to 6 pin PCI-E adapter cable anywhere?

I could try and get some pictures, if that helps? :/

But I have a converter which goes two 6 pins on one side (females) and one 8 pin on the other (male)...So...I have the 6 pin PCI power cable in one of the 6 pin females and the 8 pin in the card?

Do you still need pictures? :/

If so you need to populate it with 2x6pin, you can't just plug one in. You will need a new power supply or a molex to 8pin adapter (x2)

So what power supply is kind of cheap and will work? :/ Sorry for all the help I need, I'm just not a computer wizard :/ lol

Hi Andy.

From the last picture that you provided, the '6 pin free' part requires another 6 pin PCI-E connection from your power supply. Everything else is just fine. As your PSU doesn't look like it has another 6 pin cable then you'll need to buy the £2 extension cable. That extension requires you to plug in 2 molex power connections and then you can connect that 6 pin cable into the '6 pin free' cable you've listed on that last photo!

To summarise;
  • Buy this.
  • Plug the 6 pin from the cable above into the '6 pin free' extension.
  • Find 2 molex connections from your PSU and plug those into the slots of the cable above. A molex connection from your PSU will look something like this.
