Hi everyone
I am having a problem with my PC that started yesterday. It has been running fine since January this year but all of a sudden yesterday my CPU temperatures where hitting 90+ degrees when gaming. Before I go into story here are specs:
- i7 6700k (not OC'd - but used to be)
- Corsair H110i GTX cooler
- Asus GTX 970 Strix (never OC'd)
- Asus maximus VIII hero
- 16GB Avexir Ram (not OC'd running stock frequency)
- NZXT H440 Case
- Corsair LINk to monitor fan
- NZXT CAM to monitor FPS
- A whole bunch of HDDs and SSDs that arent relevant to this topic
Yesterday Im chilling playing dota and overwatch and suddenly my PC locks up. I think thats oddd, restart and move on. It happens again. Next time I decide to look at my temps and notice my CPU is at 90 degrees in game. Some motherboard components at 100 degrees! This hasnt happened before (since Jan 16) so I decide to load my default BIOS settings. I had my CPU OC'd according to OCUK 6700k OC guide since about a month back. It somewhere on these forums... So i thought that must be messing it all up. Running bios at default settings and im still hitting 90 degrees in gta5. The game hadnt even loaded!! Screen shot below. Had to alt tab to take it.
I decided to remount my CPU cooler block. Ive got all the cleaning kits and thermal paste to do a good job at it - it made no difference.
I thought maybe its a pump problem but on my corsair LINK it says pump RPM at a solid 3060rpm. I have my fans set to blast 100% and it still hangs.
Does anybody have any idea what could have happened?? Could my pump be broken and still report 3030-ish rpm?
Or do you think the mobo has gone crazy as the mobo temps are also very high??
As i type this I have let my PC cool down and have nothing open but Chrome to type this. It is 37 degrees.
