hi there,

currently ,my setup is a sky router/modem connected to my main computer via powerline adapter. There is also a laptop which is connected wirelessly.

I am currently building a server which i want to only be accessed by my computers (not the rest of the famillys).

I have a spare netgear DGN2000 router.

is it possible to use it in such a way to use a powerline adapter connecting from the main sky router to the netgear router which then can be used to connect up a computer, server and laptop?

Otherwise how would you suggest i link my computer, server, laptop to my own network which can then access the sky network for internet access?

sorry if this is confusin, but ill try to be as clear as possible.

Would be a lot easier if you had a switch rather than another router connecting to your main router.

I *think* you can do this, though, but will need to disable dhcp on the secondary router and assign it a static IP to it within the same range as the rest of the network devices.

You might need to reserve the IP for it on the main router as well.

thanks, im gonna try and find a cheap switch then, in which case would the powerline go into the switch then all the computers from the switch?
