So I have a Nest thermostat which was connected to my network fine through my Fritz!Box. However, this weekend I installed some powerline/wi-fi extenders (TL-WPA4220 KIT) and moved my router. Since doing so I can no longer get my Nest Thermostat to connect.

The only way I have solved this is to turn off all security on my router and connect, however as soon as I turn the security back on the Thermostat disconnects.

Any help/advice would be appreciated.

Did you get anywhere with your Nest problem, @Faded?

I've had zero success getting multiple smoke alarms (nest protect) devices working on my network. I think it's to do with IPv6 and multicast for discovery, but as far as I can see this is not disabled on my router (mikrotik running RouterOS).

Sorry for the hijack, but if there are any low-level Nest experts here please let me know (and i'll set up another thread or PM). Thx

Maybe not totally relevant to your situation, but I had a nightmare getting a Netatmo doorbell connected until I plugged in an old AP I had and created a new open 2.4GHz-only network, let the device download the latest firmware and then it worked without any issues connecting to my dual-band Wi-Fi 5 network.

Hi all, sorry, completely forgot about this post. We actually have an electrician in doing some work at the moment and he had all the power off for a few hours recently, once it was all turned back on I noticed the Nest Thermostat connected back to my network completely fine without me having to do anything. Maybe the router or the Thermostat just needed a solid reboot to get it all connecting again?!

Did you check what channels the Wi-Fi was on? Noticed a similar thing when I went mesh, it kept picking channel 12 and 13 for 2.4GHz and most of my smart home devices wouldn't work with these. Using channels 1 to 11 solved it.

The reboot probably allowed the router to pick a different channel if it was left on auto.
